Palatine Hills Estate Winery is a family owned winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake with over 40 years of grape growing and winemaking history. Founded by John and Barbara Neufeld and now run by their sons, Johnny and Charles, the winery has long been recognized as a pioneer in the region, including being among the early producers of local icewine.

Rooted in the philosophy that great winemaking begins in the vineyard, Palatine Hills offers estate grown, award winning wines crafted by winemaker Vadim Chelekhov.

Guests are welcomed into a relaxed, down to earth setting to enjoy tastings, snacks, scenic vineyard views and seating indoors and outdoors. The winery is dog friendly and welcomes walk ins for groups under 8.

The story behind Palatine Hills

Palatine Hills is a Neufeld family estate on the Niagara Lakeshore, near Niagara-on-the-Lake. The family grew grapes for about thirty years before they made a drop of their own wine, releasing their first vintage in 1998.

The old fruit orchard gave way to vines, and the growers became winemakers. Two generations of Neufelds run it today.

Grapes first, wine second

Decades of grape growing shaped the house style, which leans on ripe, estate-grown fruit off the warm Lakeshore. The vineyard carries Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and more, with winemaker Vadim Chelekhov in the cellar.

Icewine is a real strength here. Palatine Hills was named Canadian Icewine Producer of the Year in 2006, and its premium wines fly under the Wild and Free label.
