Chenin Blanc

Description

Handpicked and hand sorted grapes. Fermented at a cool temperature. Aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks.

Appearance: Pale straw colour.

Nose: Spiced honey, pear, honeysuckle.

Palate: Shows a racy acidity and a slightly oily texture, with green apple and citrus fruit and a clean, lingering finish. Though a tart wine at first, it has aged wonderfully—one of the few 2009 Ontario whites still available!

Food pairings: Pork chops with apples, Southeastern Asian cuisine, "Sweet and sour” foods, sushi and lightly seasoned fish. Try it with softer cheeses like Camembert.

Tasting Notes

This was a featured wine in April's Wine Club package, 2018.

Geographical Indication:  Niagara Peninsula, ON

Vineyard:  Estate Vineyard

Cases Produced:  285

Appearance:  Clear. Bright. Light golden core, lighter rim.

Nose:  Medium aromatic intensity. Almond and hazelnut, tangerine, buttercream, a medley of tropical fruits.

Palate:  Medium body, medium acid. Peach, nectarine, buttercream, vanilla, orange and lemon.

Quality:  Good quality. Aged 10 months in stainless steel, no oaking. There’s a slight pithy bitterness on the end of the palate, but it still finishes well.

Food Pairing:  Mushroom and leek pithivier, foie gras and chicken liver terrine, salmon with Hollandaise sauce, lobster au gratin, and roasted pork belly with applesauce.
