Description from the Producer
Tasting Notes: An unoaked reflection of our Mulberry Tree Vineyard. Chardonnay grapes, farmed organically and wild fermented in stainless steel. The goal was to show the minerality we get from the siliceous (Siliceuse en francais) soils of our Mulberry Tree vineyard. Siliceuse refers to the mineralogy of the site, the siliceous soils made up of the minerals quartz, feldspars and amphiboles that contribute a stony, racy, minerality to the wine. Racy, intense, salty and stony with a spicy edge.
Vintage & Production: 2022 was a beautiful year. Not as hot as 2021 and initially looking like a cool and wet year, things changed early in the summer and the second half of the year was one of the warmest on records. The wines show great freshness and elegance, great flavour and moderate alcohol levels. The three clones of Chardonnay, farmed organically, were wild fermented in stainless steel. Fermented with wild yeast and aged on the lees with a light filtration before bottling. Racy, intense, salty and stony this is one for those who love minerality in their wines.
