Description from the Producer
Our flagship red grape and Ontario's newest VQA varietal. These 100% Georgian Bay grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted. After a slow ferment, they were aged 50% in French oak barrels and 50% stainless steel tanks. The result is a medium-bodied red complex with spice, smoke and coffee.
The cooler fall temperatures allowed these grapes to stay lower in fermentable sugars while still reaching their full phenolic ripening. The winemaker chose a lighter style for this vintage to honor the delicate nature of this 2021's harvest. The result is a Marquette with elegance and structure, while stil retaining the pepper and spice notes that fans of this grape appreciate.
