Founded in 1991, Lakeview Cellars has grown into a respected vintner that keeps intensity and complexity in mind when crafting their wines. Led by winemaker, Scott McGregor, Lakeview Cellars sources the best grapes in the Niagara Peninsula to create their refined lineup of aromatic whites and Bordeaux-style reds. Queenston Mile Vineyard is a prime example of high-quality winemaking in Niagara. Head winemaker, Rob Power, stresses that "you can't hurry great wine" and is proud of the two decades it has taken to fully realize the potential of Queenston Mile's 50-acre vineyard. Rob's continued passion for creativity and innovation has resulted in a well-crafted, focused collection of varietals, namely pinot noir, chardonnay, and viognier.
Here is a peek at a few of the superb wines that are included in our October Wine Club boxes.
This delicate and graceful wine is well-balanced with lovely notes of peach and lemon. Enjoy alongside roasted chicken with crispy potatoes and fresh Vietnamese spring rolls with peanut sauce.
A well-crafted, complex chardonnay with caramel apple, lemon, butterscotch, and baking spice on the palate and a long, creamy finish. Pairs well with crab cakes and vegetarian quesadillas with sour cream and spring onions.
This savoury merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah blend has a cedary, mocha chocolate bouquet followed by flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, and black tea with fine tannins. Rated 92 points by Tony Aspler. A beautiful pairing with spinach and artichoke crown roast of lamb and grilled tomato and gnocchi kebabs.
This 91-point pinot has a lovely mouthfeel with elegant notes of black raspberry, savoury green herbs, and a touch of white pepper on the palate. Try it with potato and dill perogies on a bed of sautéed onions or filet mignon.
