Wine Tunes Round Up

Thankfully, our recent Wine Tunes have eased us gently into September. Here's a quick round up of the songs we featured on our Facebook page over the past few weeks.

Jimmy Buffet - "He Went to Paris"

Born on Christmas Day in 1946, Jimmy Buffet is best known for hits like "Margaritaville" (yep, that's him) and "Come Monday." Over the course of his prolific career, he went on to record over 30 albums and earn numerous accolades - and he's still touring. "He Went to Paris" was released in 1973 as the fourth single from his album A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean and soon became a fan favourite. Considering that the setting is in Paris, it makes sense that Buffet mentions wine right off the bat.

Lady Antebellum - "We Owned the Night"

This country group formed in Nashville in  2006 and has never looked back. They are now six albums and multiple hits into their career, and a regular on the pop-country music charts. "We Owned the Night" is the first single off their third album Own the Night, and hit number one on the Hot Country Songs charts in 2011. Check out the sweet video and listen for the wine lyric.

John Mayer - "Heartbreak Warfare"

One of the most talented guitarists in recent history, John Mayer has dominated pop music charts and award shows for the past 15 years. "Heartbreak Warfare" was released in 2009 as a single from his fourth album Battle Studies and was featured in the movie Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Bet you didn't realize that wine is mentioned in this ditty too!

Death Cab for Cutie - "Grapevine Fires"

A personal favourite, Death Cab for Cutie is an alt-rock band hailing from Washington.  On the circuit since 1997, the band has seen increasing popularity year over year thanks to their catchy tunes and insightful song lyrics. "Grapevine Fires" is about a wildfire that spreads through a small town, and this concept was illustrated very poignantly in Death Cab for Cutie's animated music video for the hit. The song features grapevines in the title and wine in the lyrics. Check it out!
