Wooden Gate is a Manitoba cidery near Pilot Mound, in the rolling country of the Pembina River valley. Pam and Clint Cavers, who had farmed the land for decades, turned a cider-making hobby into a licensed business at the end of the 2010s.

It is a genuinely rare thing on the prairies: a small, family-run estate cidery pressing its own fruit.

The ciders start with 100 percent Manitoba apples, made in small batches on the family's own land. Nothing here comes from far away.
