23% Baco Noir, 13% Cabernet Franc, 64% Riesling.
Trail Estate Baco Noir was fermented with carbonic maceration for 8 days and then pressed to tank with fresh pressed Riesling. Cabernet Franc was whole cluster pressed to tank. Fermented for two months at a very cool temperature and racked six times to clarify the ferment. Warmed up just before bottling. Bottled with an addition of 15 ppm SO2 with an aimed pressure of three bar.
2023 growing season was an EPIC season! Filled with plenty of challenges in the summer — lots of rain, high humidity and lots of heat. In September, the season flipped on its head and we were given the most beautiful ripening season. Grapes showed amazing concentration of flavour and great retention of acidity. The best!
Delightful red fruit on the nose. This Pét Nat showcases beautiful carbonic fruit notes and a bright acidity. Layers of cranberry, orange, currants and strawberries with a hint of trademark TEW funk.
