Description from the Producer
Why Neptune? Aptly named after the Roman god of the sea. After the juice spends its light in terracotta pots for 18 months a notoriously rich and distinct saline character emerges.
The 2020 Neptune was harvest from our home estate, Renaceau Vineyard. The grapes were gently pressed as whole cluster and settled in stainless steel before being transferred to neutral French oak for fermentation. The wine spent 21 months of maturation in oak before bottling. Wild fermented, unfined and unfiltered.

Nose: A bouquet of apple and citrus fruits with a reductive note of struck flint (bound-in sulfur)
Palate: Might to medium-bodied, tart, green apple and grapefruit flavours
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C (lightly chilled)
Drinking window: Now – 2027 (decant briefly to let the reductive note dissipate)
Quality: (87) Decant to allow the sulfur note to dissipate. Drink now and through 2027.
Food Pairing: Aged goat cheese (like Ontario Monforte “Crocetta”), Shrimp summer rolls with peanut dipping sauce, Thai lemongrass grilled chicken with lime-chili dipping sauce, Stir-fried tofu with snow peas, shiitake, and ginger-garlic soy glaze, Lemon posset with macerated berries
