Grape Varietals: Syrah 94%, Viognier 6%
Deep ruby in colour, this medium-bodied wine has aromas and flavours of rich mocha, dark chocolate and ripe black fruits intermingled with notes of pepper and toasty oak. Soft and supple on the palate, our Syrah has a finely grained structure and excellent length. To add an extra note of complexity, the wine was co-fermented with 6% Viognier grapes and aged for six months in new thin-staved American oak barrels. The wine is made in an elegant, easy-drinking style that is delicious upon release but will also improve with time in the bottle.

A bright nose of vanilla, raspberry and peach. The palate is quite fresh with the acids and tannins working well together to form a well-balanced structural house for the bacon and grilled cauliflower notes. Quite a beautiful wine, nice job!

Impressive Syrah from a newish winery on The Golden Mile Bench, which recently applied for DVA status. It starts with a smoky, tarry nose that Syrah is known to develop in some regions, although some of that charred character could be from the oak. The highlight, though, is the silky texture of this wine, and its balanced finish, not too tannic or sweet. 90 points

A deep bright purple colour. The nose is toasty, smoky, meaty and peppery with lots of cooked black cherry, blueberry and dark plum - lots of good intensity. The palate is ripe and rich, full-bodied with balancing acidity and ripe tannins. Walks the line nicely between richness and cool climate elegance as BC Syrah can do so well. Blackberry, dried raspberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, pepper, black olive and grilled meat unfold and evolve on a long, complex finish. A great example of quality BC Syrah. Appearance: Opaque, deep purple in colour.
Nose: Toasty, smoky, meaty, and peppery nose with black cherry, blueberry, dark plum, mocha, and dark chocolate.
Palate: Rich, full-bodied with balancing acidity and ripe tannins. Blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, pepper, and black olive flavours.
Quality: Very good quality. The enticing aromas of dark chocolate, cherry and a complex smoky meatiness combine with bright floral notes of violet and plum on the palate, a complexity created by co-fermenting 6% Viognier with the Syrah and toasty oak barrels. Delicious now but will gain complexity and smoothness with age.
Food pairings: Lamb medallions, beef kabobs, grilled steak, venison, sautéed mushrooms.
Destemmed and crushed to tank and co-fermented with 6% Viognier. Cold soaked for 7 days followed by inoculation. Twice daily hand plunged for gentle extraction. Pressed upon polymerization of tannins for a soft yet firm structure. Aged in new thin staved Demptos American Oak barrels for 6 months before bottling.
