All Canadian Wine Championships

The Canadian Wine Championships (ACWC) takes place annually in the late Spring/early Summer and is currently in its 43rd year. In 2014, the ACWC judging moved from Windsor, ON to Prince Edward County, ON. All wines in the All Canadian Wine Championships are made from 100% Canadian fruit. In 2024, there were 995 wines entered, with 14 judges from across Canada.

Canada's Oldest Wine Competition

The All Canadian Wine Championships has been running for over four decades, and its one hard rule is what makes it useful: every wine entered must be made from 100% Canadian fruit. A medal here cannot be won by a blend that leaned on imported juice.

It is judged blind, like the other competitions, and it sits in Prince Edward County rather than a major city. The entry list runs to roughly a thousand wines a year against a panel in the low teens, so the medals are spread thinner than the entry count suggests.

Reds take the largest share of this page, but the spread is wider than most competitions — sparkling, rosé, icewine, fruit wine and cider all place. That breadth is worth knowing if you are shopping outside the usual two colours.
