Description from the Producer
Our original, “happy accident” plantings have increased over the years so that now, we just might be able to supply enough of this rare varietal to keep up with demand.
Winemaker's Notes: 100% Melon de Bourgogne. It is dazzlingly scented of meyer lemon, peach, honeydew melon and candy floss. The palate finds it generous, vivid and fresh, flavoured of lime, gooseberry and green apple, leaving a citrus zest-mineral finish.
Dry: 0 g/L residual sugar. Vegan friendly. Enjoy now through 2028.
If you are new to this variety, and enjoy the crisp attitude of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, then our Melon is one to try.
Tasting notes by Tony Aspler
Appearance: Pale straw. Nose: Fresh citrus with a subtle saline note. Palate: Light-bodied and crisply dry, with a clean, lemony flavour and excellent length.
Serve: 7–9 °C, well chilled. Drinking window: drink now.
Pairing: Oysters with lemon and shallot mignonette; garlic-butter scampi with parsley and lemon; fresh chèvre with lemon zest and herbs; crispy tempura vegetables; lemon granita with fresh mint.
