The story behind Sue-Ann Staff Estate

Sue-Ann Staff is a fifth-generation grape grower who made wine at other Niagara wineries before opening her own in 2009, on her family's estate in Jordan. That land has been in the family for about two hundred years.

She was the first woman named Ontario Winemaker of the Year, back in 2002, well before she went out on her own.

Riesling, and a family name

Riesling is the signature, grown on the Twenty Mile Bench where the cool climate keeps it bright. The best-known bottle, Loved by Lu, is a semi-dry Riesling named for Sue-Ann's late grandmother and mentor.

The range runs from that estate tier to a playful line called Fancy Farm Girl, with icewine, Cabernet Franc, and sparkling in between. Deep grower roots run through all of it.
