Notre nom fait référence à la montagne qui domine l'arrière de notre propriété, formant un enclos naturel au nord, emprisonnant la chaleur du soleil et les rayons réfléchis, essentiels à une excellente production de raisins.

The story behind Clos du Soleil

Clos du Soleil started in 2006, when Spencer Massie, a retired Royal Canadian Navy officer, and a group of friends planted a bench of prime ground near Keremeos. This is the Similkameen Valley, a quieter neighbour to the Okanagan, hemmed in by mountains.

From the beginning the plan was organic farming and Bordeaux-style wine, an unusual bet in a young BC region. It has aged well.

Organic wine, Bordeaux at heart

The estate is certified organic and farmed with biodynamic methods, and it grows all the classic Bordeaux grapes. Winemaker Michael Clark, who came to wine from theoretical physics, keeps the winemaking precise and small-lot.

Two wines anchor the range. Signature is the flagship red, a barrel-aged Bordeaux blend, and Capella is its white counterpart, built mostly on Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
