Redstone Winery est la dernière initiative de Moray Tawse et de son incroyable équipe de vignerons. Nommée ainsi en raison de son sol d'argile rouge et de ses grosses pierres, la propriété de 38 acres de Redstone, située à Lincoln Lakeshore, a été acquise en 2009 et abrite un domaine viticole et un restaurant primés. En 2017, ils ont été fièrement désignés « Vignoble canadien de l'année » aux National Wine Awards du Canada.

Le vignoble de 15 hectares, cultivé en agriculture biologique, est idéal pour la maturation de cépages tardifs comme le merlot, le cabernet franc, le cabernet sauvignon et la syrah. La propriété produit également du pinot gris. Le riesling, le sauvignon blanc et le chardonnay, issus du vignoble Limestone récemment acquis, complètent le portefeuille du domaine.

The story behind Redstone Winery

Redstone is Moray Tawse's second Niagara winery, the sister estate to Tawse. He bought the Beamsville Bench property, once known as Thomas and Vaughan, in 2009.

The name is literal. On his first walk through the vineyard, the deep red clay soil coated his boots, and Redstone stuck. That same red clay is a big part of why the reds taste the way they do.

Red clay, late-ripening reds

Redstone farms its Beamsville Bench vineyard organically, with certification in place since 2013. The strength here is late-ripening reds: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah, with Chardonnay and Riesling alongside.

Winemaker Jessica Otting makes the wines for both Redstone and Tawse. In 2017 Redstone was named Canadian Winery of the Year at the National Wine Awards of Canada.
